As the first anniversary of the natural disaster that sparked the creation of this community comes around, I would just like to take this opportunity to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that participated in our fundraisers over the course of 2011. We began the year with devastating floods in Queensland, Australia that saw a single offering in a single personal journal spawn into one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. Almost overnight, my single entry morphed into 500 fellow lj-ers lending their support to the cause. I was seriously overwhelmed in the best possible way.

The result was fandomaid, which then lent its support to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami disaster relief effort as well as the Somali Famine cause. Through the auctioning of fics, icons, podfics, art and crafts we managed to raise a total of just over $15000.00 across those three deserving causes.

Hopefully our services won't be required in 2012, but to believe that is possibly to be naive and so, should we be required, fandomaid is now in a position where we can be up and running at a moment's notice.

In the meantime, please continue to post completed fundraiser products here, and if you have any suggestions for any aspect of the community please don't hesitate to leave them in a comment.
